A hot drink that stimulates ecstatic conductivity!
« on: April 03, 2009, 08:30:17 AM »
namaste friends,

the drink is Mate:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mate_(beverage)

and i wanted to bring this hot drink to your knowledge in case you don't know about it.

it has a lot of health benefits including burning fat and cleaning the body even though it has caffeine within it but it is a very healthy drink and at the same time in my case it produces ecstatic conductivity every time i drink it which means that it purifies bcz ecstatic conductivity is a result of friction.

now i don't know if it's the drink or the instruments which are used to drink it with bcz they involve taking breaths while taking sips from the bombilla (we call it bambiji or massassa here) but it brings ecstatic conductivity in the spine especially in the heart and neck areas and it happens every time with me so it's experiential.

for those who have ecstatic conductivity going on i would like to hear your opinions on the matter in case you try out this hot beverage or have tried it before.

light and love,

Ananda

Oh yes, yerba mate![:D] excellent drink from Argentina and other countries of sudamerica, they are drinking it all the day with other people (its a social thing),and the seem to be very well while doing it![8D].
I have bombilla and a little special pumpkin fot its traditional use.You know, the first time you use the pumpkin 8only the first time, after buying a new one) you fill the pumpkin with 3/4 of mate and you add the hot water. Then you leave it resting for 2 days. Then you throw away the mate and the water that was there resting and it is ready for drinkin mate.this process is named "cebar el mate".
The water temperature always must be a little before than boling, just a little before when you see the first bubbles. The you put in the pumpkin 3/4 of yerba mate and after the hot water.
when there is no more water after drinkin, you dont have to throw  the coontent, just add more hot water.you throw the mate away and add new mate when there is no bubbles in the surface each time ou add hot water. Only After lot of uses[:D].
mmmmmm...excellent,depurative and stimulating,i have some now in my kitchen, and im gonna prepare one[:D]
Thanks ananda!

[:)]if you use pumpkin you will have best taste after this procedure of "cebar el mate".After the 2 days of resting, you must clean well the pumpkin (inside)with a spoon and water.the reason of all that procedure is to soften and clean up all the wooden splinters in the pumpkin that have a bad influence in mate's taste.
Enjoy mate!

What is this pumpkin you are talking about? a "gourd" maybe?
What we call pumpkins are a fresh vegetable that would not work well for a reusable container.

Hi Ananda. No,it is taken just after adding the water. You always drink mate with a good quantity of hot water beside you.The water is kept in a thermo-recipient or vacuum flask. You add the water when there is no more water in the pumpkin.
A guy from argentina told me all of this instructions. He had a little shop spezialized in mate,in one of that travelling markets...
Etherfish[:)]hi!
No,it is not like the halloween pumpkins. It is a very little pumpking of wooden wich is empty, for adding the mate.I think its a gourd, but im not secure. You have to buy the "pumpkin" in a shop spezialized,or one of those little hippy markets...places like that...
remember,its a stimulating drink[:D]![:)](im gonna take another one now[|)])

hi Ether it's a gourd, there is a drawing of it in the wikipedia link.

brother miguel i know how to drink it but what i didn't know was the "cebar al mate" and for that i think you.

by the way most of the druze sheikhs here in Lebanon take this drink, and these guys are pretty much into suffism in the deepest of deepest ways.

kindest regards,

Ananda

i went to ebay and searched "mate gourd" and there are a lot from all different countries. There's even a kit with mate, gourd, and bombilla. OK back outside; wish I had that now!

brother miguel, i think that you should take a look at the wikipedia link up there.

and concerning this drink i read on wikipedia that it affects the nervous system in a certain way i hope Yogani or someone else would chime in and comment on this maybe this drink does or doesn't go so well with for those of us who are doing practices to purify the nervous system.

quote:
Studies of mate, though very limited, have shown preliminary evidence[citation needed] that the mate xanthine cocktail is different from other plants containing caffeine most significantly in its effects on muscle tissue, as opposed to those on the central nervous system, which are similar to those of other natural stimulants. The three xanthines present in mate have been shown to have a relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissue, and a stimulating effect on myocardial (heart) tissue.

Hi Ananda,[:)]

There have been some reports to suggest there are some health risks for yerba mate, namely increases in certain types of cancer, especially if consumed in the traditional way they do in South America. Just type "yerba mate health risks" into google. If you drink it like tea, the health risks seem to be minimal. See this article here for a fairly balanced perspective:

http://www.caring4cancer.com/go/cancer/nutrition/questions

Seems like drinking it in moderation would be ok.

hi Anthem, thk you for chiming in my good friend and thx for the link i already read some stuff about the dangers of cancer related to mate but they all seemed contradictory but this topic clears it all.

guess it would be wise to quote the ending of the topic, but i will keep on drinking mate cz as far as i know everything we are eating or drinking these days has cancer risks within it even the air we breath and the sun we bask in:

quote:
The Bottom Line

Despite the general belief that mate is a health drink, the evidence suggests otherwise. When prepared and consumed in the traditional South American manner, yerba mate contains high levels of carcinogenic (cancer causing) chemicals called PAHs (26).

It is important to note that the traditional preparation of yerba mate involves adding water to the same batch of leaves several times and drinking all of these cups of tea. This will expose the person consuming mate to higher levels of PAHs than if the drink were prepared once and the leaves discarded. In this sense, enjoying a single cup of yerba mate tea that has been prepared from a fresh tea bag is unlikely to expose a person to the high levels of PAHs that are found in traditionally prepared brews.

The bottom line is that when consumed in the traditional South America way, yerba mate drinks contribute significant amounts of carcinogenic PAHs to the diet. If you have enjoyed a cup of yerba mate yourself from time to time, do not panic. You have not been exposed to PAH levels beyond what is found in many foods and drinks in the average American diet.

In summary yerba mate may not be the best choice of beverages for good health, but when consumed occasionally, yerba mate is very unlikely to be linked with any type of cancer.

Hi Ananda,

So you got me curious and I went out and bought some yerba mate, the version which comes in the tea-like bags and have been drinking it a few times over the last few days. I did notice a slight increase in ecstatic conductivity and sexual energy in general. I know it may not be what you were looking for, but for me there were some negative side-effects too, enough that I will discontinue drinking. I'm definitely on the highly sensitive side, but did notice a few things like an inability to relax deep muscle tissue in the chest, upper-back and neck/ head four hours after drinking, I felt a little "hyped" up. An uncomfortable heat(for lack of a better description) in general particularly in the neck, back and  throat and again for hours after drinking. I definitely didn't expect any reactions like that so was surprised and don't ever notice these from drinking tea. I should say for objectivity reasons, I don't drink coffee ever or tea very often so am sensitive to the effects of caffeine in general.

Just some feedback from one perspective.

All the best![:)]

A

I like this as an alternative to coffee.  The buzz is "cleaner" and apparently it's not addictive.
