What is the meaning of hot flashes in the body?
« on: May 26, 2006, 05:15:11 AM »
Nowadays, I do spinal breathing, sambhavi (almost all day long) and meditation twice a day. I am getting hot flashes in my body. What is its meaning and how to correct it? Once corrected - it should go off - right?

Places where I am getting hotflashes:

lower back, feet (more on left), hands (both).

One more thing - while meditating I see some people doing something and talking at times - what does it means? I don't know any of them. Also today I got a throbbing sensation in my lips/nose(very fast), which pushed me out of meditation. What does it means?

In persuit,
A

P.S. - Thanks Shanti for your guidance. I went thru all the articles and they are simply great.

Hi Sounds like you are having mega kundalini symptoms and I'm not surprised if you are doing spinal breathing all day long. this is really over the top, Yogani recommends ten minutes of spinal breathing before your meditation, you can up that but not to all day long. have another read of the lessons and self pace for goodness sake or you will burn yourself out.

Blessings [:)]

I think the poster's doing sambahvi all day long, not the spinal breathing. But that's still overdoing, and it will come back to haunt with pitta imbalances, disruption in personal life, etc. Please consider more attention to the "self pacing" Yogani frequently writes about.

Hot flashes and the like are normal in any practice, however.

Aditya - thanks for mentioning that.  I've had the same experiences and haven't known what they were.  Flashes of scenes which are mundane slices of everyday life, with vivid details of faces and settings (unlike dreams, where the detail is vague).  I've conversed with another forumite who also has these experiences - maybe they'll write about it?  I find it quite entertaining, but haven't a clue as to their origin.  Btw, do your 'people' interact with you at all, or are they aware of you?

Thanks for replies folks. I wish I could understand the reason behind hot and cold flashes.

Meg - I see two kind of things - one where people are not aware of me. Let me narrate one: Jim and his 3-4 friends are playing in courtyard of a huge building - perhaps some old Indian setting. Sometimes someone would pop in and put some stuff on table for kids and then move out. Some would come just to see if they are ok. This is not continuous - it is in pieces and may be swapped by some other 'vision'. All the kids are white but not sure if they are British - they just call each others name and Jim is called most of the time.

Then there are other kind where someone is saying something, but it is not clear and the sight is not clear either - except that I see some color - perhaps Blue or Deep blue. Red and yellow is not uncommon, but blue is leading color.

Forgot to mention something - I also hear a hum in my ears - esp right one. It is mostly during night time and it started after these meditations.

Hi Aditya,
Glad to hear you read through the lessons. As Richard and Jim have told you, don't do any of these practices all day.. too much energy... esp being in mulabandha all day may be causing the excess heat in your lower back. Since your nervous system is not purified enough, I guess this energy has nowhere to go.. so just do it during your pracice and the Spinal breathing will help move this heat(energy) up to your head and smooth things out. Just self pace a little and you should be fine...  Yogani talks about excess heat in this lesson.

Like Meg said a lot of us have seen people (although she was not talking about me when she said she has discussed this with this other forumite[:D]) during meditation. The thing is to treat them like any other distractions like thoughts or feelings or noise, during meditaion, just go back to the mantra.. the lower beings are just there.. Yogani explains lower and higher beings in his Spinal breathing book as well as his meditation book. If you don't already have them, get them.. they are awesome.
You can check this thread for some info on lower and higher beings..

Hmmm.  Yours sound a lot more interesting than mine.  Here's one of mine:  A woman is sitting at a table in a restaurant holding a glass and talking to someone.  She turns her head to look at something behind her, turns back, and crosses her legs.  The whole thing lasts maybe 2 seconds.  Pretty mundane, huh?  But the whole thing is so very detailed and specific that I find it completely intriguing, and don't care that they don't make sense.  For once I don't feel the need to figure it out.  :)

I have had a lot of experiences with seeing people doing things in detail. Also with the blue world. You're right Meg, that you don't need to figure it out. Sometimes it is even accompanied by the feeling that "something important is about to happen" or "what I'm seeing is the answer to all my questions."
I've decided that none of this is of any importance. Now I just watch, then go on with my life as if it was any normal occurance. I believe that what we are seeing is clairvoyance, and sometimes it is in another place, sometimes in another time, sometimes a previous life. Sometimes it is even the future, and I believe sometimes it is another planet or dimension, because I've seen furniture that wouldn't fit any bodies we know on earth.
I believe the strange feelings that come with it are just the result of using a "sense" that we don't normally use, so part of our brain attaches false importance to it. You know, like a guy raises someone from the dead, so people worship him.

So my solution is to ignore it all under the assumption that we're like babies developing clairvoyance and clairaudience and don't understand it yet. I do watch them with fascination, however because of the "high definition".

Thanks, Ether!  :)  Alien furniture?  I'm starting to think I've got the most boring visions of all.  I wouldn't even call them visions; they're more like  glimpses, and for some odd reason my ego has never attached any importance to them, or to myself for glimpsing them.  (That's the weirdest part of all, truth be told).  Parallel universes?  Clairvoyance?  I dunno - maybe you guys are right.  To me it just feels like the excess of an overactive imagination.  Now, if one of these glimpses crosses over into my life, and I see the person or the event in real time, then I'll start to pay more attention.  I hope it doesn't happen - it wouldn't be as much fun.

That sounds so exciting Etherfish. I have read about clairvoyance and clairaudience too. Do you have any idea how long does it takes to attain it and what all experiences do we have to go through? How do people do it with an intent - focussing on a specific target? Anyone got any pointer?

Shanti - thanks again - you have great patience and insight to judge what I am doing! How do you figure it out? But you know what I am in love with Sambhavi - it helped me control my anger. I still long to go for those pranayams that I mentioned in one of my posts, but I am waiting for 'ramp-up' of energy and meditation. Another question - how to make energy flow in right channels?

In pursuit,
A

It's just something that happens as "scenery along the pathway". If you just follow basic AYP practices you can attain these things, but i can't tell you how long. I can tell you that it seems to help if your body is cold and perfectly still, but there are a lot of people in the cemetary who haven't attained it!
If you aspire to attain such "siddhis" you can do it, but it will warp your purpose and cause heartache later on. Better to just watch the scenery that passes by, and continue AYP practices, and see where that leads you.

Hi Aditya.. ummm.. lets not give titles to anyone around here.. We have no gurus in AYP.. not even Yogani wants to be one.. Remember.. The Guru Is In You..  We all just help each other out..

I am glad those lessons helped you.. all I did was point you to them... Everything you need to know is there in the lessons.. so just keep reading them. Enjoy.[:)]
