My biggest struggle in using sexual energy as a tool for spiritual transformation is managing the building sexual energy. Yogani's practices increase sexual energy. He encourages staying in the preorgasmic place. This feels a little like edging to me. The problem I find is the more the practices build this energy the more desire to release the energy grows. I had come at these practices initially thru a Taoist approach. A taoist teacher told me I needed to transmute this energy by drawing the energy into the microcosmic orbit as he felt there was no way to do bramacharya without profound frustration. I've been successful at transmuting the energy for a time but am frustrated by this never ending struggle between bramacharya and a growing desire for release. At times I've experience non ejaculatory orgasms, these do help to release some energy without loosing vital fluids but those experiences still build the energy internally. SBP and DM increases arousal for me too. Since those are at the center of the path I feel like I'm missing something fundamental to overcoming this seeming paradox.

Hello again InterPaul

Not every yoga practice is suitable for every yogi, and perhaps this is the case for you and bramacharya. As you are successfully building arousal with SBP and DM alone, why not shelve the idea of retaining semen as it seems to be to your detriment. Bramacharya is a stepping stone for yogis to awaken spiritual arousal within meditation, whereas you have already achieved this in spades.

As mentioned before, your dedicated practice will deepen the silence and smoothen the arousal piece of the equation. Your system is figuring itself out; bramacharya may be pushing the energy piece too much. Staying preorgasmic is edging in a sense, but if it becomes discomforting you are better off releasing and dealing with the temporary ?loss?. With dedicated yoga practice, even this loss becomes lessened, even non-existent.

Dogboy, Thanks again for reaching out in response to my questions. This whole spiritual journey started for me with bramacharya as I wanted to get away from porn/masturbation. I'm not really interested in going back to either of those if I can avoid it as I feel the energy from bramacharya fuels everything. I do agree I don't feel as much loss of energy when the releases occur from meditation without masturbation as it seems like the body releases energy as it sees fit. I can live with that if that is what it has to be for now. In my early readings from Mantak Chia he talked about semen retention as the critical ingredient in setting the stage for transformation of the sexual energy into chi and then into spiritual energy. If there was some way to channel the sexual energy up better so as to not feel controlled by it, I would like to figure that out. As you probably can tell from my questions I am really torn in two directions. One side of me really wants to fully explore this new and wonderful spiritual path as it seems to offer great promise. The other side of me finds the retention creates great distraction. Prior to these practices my sexual energies were waning quite a bit. I assumed this was related to being in my 50s but I suspect some of this now was due to draining my vital essence thru too much masturbation.

I totally understand the rabbit hole of porn & excessive masturbation and your desire to avoid it. By your awareness of your past behavior and it?s effects, and your intention for change, you are on your way to overcoming the past. Where as your attention was on pornography, it is now on spirituality; attention on intention matters.

Your ?seed? can be released as a spiritual ritual, an offering to an ishta or spiritual ideal. It should not be cast aside but instead rubbed into your skin in a loving matter, in a sense, returning it to the body. Light candles, play soft music, you get the idea. Reverence matters.

It?s been three weeks, Interpaul, have you found relief? Balance?

You will find the sweet spot. Distracting lusty feelings indicate your bramacharya needs to be reset, is all. It?s like juggling, you keep at it until you drop a ball, then start again.

Dogboy, Thank you for checking in with me, that's very kind of you and means a lot to me. I wish I could report I've got it all figured out. I have continued to stay focused on regular SBP and DM. I put Kechari on hold as it was too stimulating for me but I have continued with Bramacharya as I started that practice before AYP as a way of getting away from porn/masturbation. Given how paired those behaviors get I chose to eliminate both from my routine.

Given how I've persisted in my practice of bramacharya I find the sexual energy builds after a week or less and results in the spontaneous emissions I've spoken of. I am coming to accept this as my body releasing the energy as it sees fit but would like to find a way to truly transmute the sexual energy if it is possible. I can tell even after the releases I retain more energy than previously such that I don't feel as bad as I used to with the loss of energy.
