hello all, we are thinking of choosing between ballet classes and meditation classes for our 6 year old daughter. i read a very useful tips here

Six years old is pretty young to be training in meditation. Of course, it depends what kind of meditation. It would not be recommended with the AYP deep meditation technique, which is very powerful.

Ballet sounds very good for a 6 year old. They are so cute in their tutus...

Thank you. We just want her to concentrate more at school and felt maybe a not-so -intense yoga (meditation) would be okay for her.

You can try 5 minutes of breathe, watching the belly rise and fall. That shown some really good results.

Hi edyych, actually meditation is one of the most intense yoga practices, despite the fact that it looks so gentle. And beside that, I think that most children could not be able to sustain such a practice. For young children, I would suggest to look for something that allows them to play and have fun - that's what childhood is for IMO.

I don't teach my kids to meditate but there are many societies where they do with no issues. Also if your child suffers from ADD meditation has shown positive results and is a much better alternative to drugs.
