Movement, vocalisation and rapid breathing
« on: January 07, 2014, 06:05:32 AM »
Every time I start to meditate both arms shoot out horizontally with the first finger touching the thumb, my head spins from side to side and I vocally (out loud) utter the same 16 syllable phrase (which isn't English), then my whole torso shakes quite vigorously and for about 5 seconds my breathing becomes very rapid. This happens every time I start to meditate. After 3 or 4 minutes I call it a day.As you can imagine this is not a very enjoyable experience. Can anyone advise how to deal with this phenomenon ?

Shanti

Hi Alangeoffrey,
Welcome to the AYP forums.
What you are describing is automatic yoga.
Look here: http://www.aypsite.com/plus/104.html

Can you tell us what kind of meditation you do?

Between practices session, doing some grounding (exercise, walking) is a good idea. Also at times things like massage or acupuncture or some other form of energy healing helps dissolve the blocks that are causing these movements.

And doing some asanas (or just a good stretch) before starting meditation, helps smooth things out as well.

Here is a topic on automatic yoga that may help:

There are many more topics on this, if you'd like do a forum search on "automatic yoga".

Wish you all the best.[:)]
