Hi edyych:

Six years old is pretty young to be training in meditation. Of course, it depends what kind of meditation. It would not be recommended with the AYP deep meditation technique, which is very powerful.

For more on "yoga for our children" see Lesson 256: http://www.aypsite.com/256.html
...or with additional content on over-sensitivity here: http://www.aypsite.com/plus/256.html

As mentioned in the lesson, light asanas (postures) are fine, but getting into more intensive practices like we have in AYP is not advised for young children.

Ballet sounds very good for a 6 year old. They are so cute in their tutus...

All the best!

The guru is in you.

Thank you. We just want her to concentrate more at school and felt maybe a not-so -intense yoga (meditation) would be okay for her.

You can try 5 minutes of breathe, watching the belly rise and fall. That shown some really good results.

A nice documentary http://youtu.be/mJvGZmOhCDo

Hi edyych, actually meditation is one of the most intense yoga practices, despite the fact that it looks so gentle. And beside that, I think that most children could not be able to sustain such a practice. For young children, I would suggest to look for something that allows them to play and have fun - that's what childhood is for IMO.

Just for clarification.

I don't teach my kids to meditate but there are many societies where they do with no issues. Also if your child suffers from ADD meditation has shown positive results and is a much better alternative to drugs.
