I would like to share with everyone a set of scientific theories on Meditation, Pranayama, and Consciousness in general.

These theories are supported by a variety of articles from the literature surrounding neuroscience and yogic practices.

Our theory of consciousness, the default space model, is a holistic model of consciousness involving the brain and body. In this view, the brain and body recreate the external world within via oscillatory synchronization between and among the sensory organs and many cortical sites. Our theory helps to scientifically explain the effects of yogic practices as it incorporates respiration and the cardiovascular system.

This theory was originated from the mind-body response which explains how not only the mind affects the body, but the body affects the mind.

Please visit our site to gain a deeper understanding of the scientific mechanisms of yogic practice, specifically pranayama. We have a published book as well as many published scientific articles published in prestigious journals such as Frontiers of Human Neuroscience which are available for free download.
