Divine Sound
« on: January 27, 2006, 02:23:23 AM »
A grand celebration was held on the occasion of 130th birthday of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji at the Hansol Ashram, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India on 4th January 2006.

On this occasion which was graced by the presence of over 150 senior heads of monasteries or mutts from different parts of India, over a thousand sadhus and sants and over four thousand devotees, Dhyanyogi Omdasji gave the first public performance of the Divine Sound in India.

A traditional worship and thanksgiving was held at the Mahasamdhi of Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji in the morning which was attended by the disciples and guests.

The visiting heads of monasteries and sadhus were welcomed by with an accompanying band which walked each group from the main road to the large tent erected for the celebrations where they were greeted by Dhyanyogi Omdasji and Shri Parmahamsji who is the head of Gurudev’s Mumbai ashram and temple.  They were all seated in special seats and offered garlands of fresh flowers and shawls printed with Ram Nam – the holy name of God.

Dhyanyogi Omdasji is a sampurna siddha or complete Master of Kundalini yoga.  He has realized within himself the power of Aum, bija mantras and other mantras.  Such siddhi enables him to chant mantras which have the effect of calming down the listeners and bringing them very quickly in a meditative state.  The divine sounds harmonize body, mind and soul. Regular practice of meditation with the divine chants brings about a holistic healing, vibrant good health, balanced state of mind, awaking of inner potentials and paves the path to self realisation.

While some music and chants have the effect of calming the minds of the listeners, the chants of Dhyanyogi Omdasji vibrating with Divine Energy not only bring peace but bring about a transforming effect on the minds and emotions of the listeners.  Those who have never meditated in their lives find themselves sliding into the meditative mode effortlessly and those who have practiced meditation find newer depths in meditation.

During the birthday function, the group of sadhus who are into other forms of worship and not meditation were able to go into the meditative state easily. Many visitors who had come with the disciples and who had never meditated in their lives also felt the soothing effects of the chants.

The disciples of Dhyanyogi who are practiced in meditation reported greater depths in meditation and newer levels of peace and energy.

The chief guest, Shri Kesubhai Patel, the ex chief minister of Gujarat also spoke of the experiences of vibrations, feelings of joy and peace of mind which he experienced during the chants of Gurudev.

Dr Vishwamohan Thakur, a well known local psychiatrist explained to all the effects of the divine chants on brain and body.  During Gurudev’s last visit to U.S.A last year, a research was done on the effects of divine sounds on brain, skin and general feelings of disciples while listening to the chants. On April 15, 2005, Dhyanyogi Omdasji visited the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA. This scientific appearance was the first recorded clinical study of his vast powers through sound.  The DVD of this experiment was shown to all and the effects recorded there were explained by Dr Thakur to the attentive crowd. The recordings during this session show:
* brainwaves begin to alter in direct response to the Divine Sound, shifting from a normal waking beta state to an alpha-theta brainwave state that is characteristic of meditation and deep relaxation
      * the relaxation effect is further supported by the skin temperature  going down, and the galvanic skin response going up
* hemispheric synchronization between the brains seems to increase, such that the left side of the brain experiences much greater amplitude in alpha and theta waves
* and that, judging by this particular data set, long-term meditators get more of a profound experience than meditators who have just received Shaktipat, more recent meditators who have not received Shaktipat, and those who do not have a regular meditation practice.
Dr Thakur explained the effects of stress on body and mind and the importance of calmness or having the alpha levels in brain.  Judging by the current levels of sickness and disease all over world, it is imperative for mankind to have an easy method of relaxing which directly affects the brain and body in a positive manner.  A solution for this has been provided by Dhyanyogi Omdasji who in his divine compassion for the plight of mankind shares with all of us the Divine Sounds – the Brahma Nada.
An American visitor and disciple from San Francisco spoke of how the divine chants has changed his life and how he was able to give up many of his bad habits and attain good health and peace of mind.
The meditation session with Divine Sounds ended with a feast for all visitors and guests.  A delicious meal of traditional Indian food with sweets was served to over 5000 guests. The heads of monasteries and sadhus and sants were sent off with cash presents as is the local custom.
Dhyanyogi Omdasji will soon record a DVD of Divine Sounds which will be made available all over world.
