Hello,
I am a new comer to AYP and I am interested in practising the daily muscle toning routine described in the book Asanas Mudras and Bandhas p 97.
I think that a video or at least some photos would be very helpful as a complement to the textual description.
Maybe some advanced practitioner would be kind enough to shoot and post a 5 - 10 minutes video of his muscle toning daily routine
Thank you

Hi Bruno, and welcome!
Among the many things we are hoping to add to AYP Plus over time are videos for the AYP asana starter kit, enhanced asana set, and the muscle toning routine as well.
Anyone who has done anything in these areas, do let us know. Christi is working on the asanas, as these will be an important part of the AYP teacher training course he is developing, and at least some of that video will be included here in AYP Plus as well.
Thanks for bringing this up. Sooner or later, it is all going to be here.
The guru is in you.

Hi:
AMB book page 77:
As mentioned, mudras and bandhas might also occur automatically at any time during our regular daily activity. They can be quite subtle, natural and pleasant, as we have covered in discussing the whole body mudra earlier. This is an evolution of our inner neurobiology as we advance along the path of yoga and is a result of the combined effects of all of our practice.
I have yet not added the AYP AMB routine. However, I was reading through the book today to learn about the practices covered.
I recently added SBP (few days ago) to my DM routine. Before AYP, I did do a technique for a while that had my attention focused on 3rd eye.
These days I'm naturally finding an urge to roll back my tongue & look into my 3rd eye at different times of the day. It brings immediate concentration and focus back into whatever activity I'm busy with. Whenever there is an urge, I do that for a min or two and get back into my activity.
1. Is it okay to do that as far as risk of overdoing is concerned? or should I take pre-caution with any delayed effects that may arise?
2. I find an urge to do shambhavi mudra naturally during the rest period after DM. Is it okay to indulge in it at this stage? I'm yet to have a stable SBP routine.
The book on page 77 says:
During Deep Meditation (20 min) and Samyama (10 min) – Mudras and bandhas are not to be undertaken deliberately. They may occur as automatic habits. Siddhasana may be added when it can be performed without excessive distraction.
Thank you!

Hi rpanwala:
If mudras and bandhas happen automatically/naturally now and then, there will not likely be risk of overload. It is your inner neurobiology seeking purification and opening, and it can feel quite ecstatic. However, if you force such practices for extended periods throughout the day, then risk of overdoing increases. Also be mindful that "automatic yoga" does not have self-pacing built in. It wants it all now. So maintaining a moderate approach that is compatible with normal daily activity is up to the practitioner. You will know by experience.
All the best!
