Hi there,

Mulabandha is explained in detail on the AYP website. A direct link to this topic can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/advancedyogapractices/55.html.

Briefly the idea is to hold mulabandha gently throughout spinal breathing pranayama. Tracing the spinal nerve up on the in-breath to the point between the eyebrows or the third eye and then down on the exhalation to the perineum or root chakra.

Just a quick note on my experience with mulabhanda so far.  I just started to practice it about a week ago.  It was very "clunky" at first, it took about 3 days before it became comfortable.

Its amazing what a huge boost it gives to those blissful feelings arising during pranayama.  I've been doing spinal breathing for a while and just the addition of this simple bandha has had a tremendous effect on my practice.

The integration of the best yoga practices out there (thank you Yogani [:)]) really does make a difference.
